Evie Connolly
I am a CORU registered Consultant Social Worker and Therapeutic Riding Coach.
In 2006, I received an honours degree in Social Work from University College Cork and became registered with the National Social Work Qualifications Board. I am also registered as an Independent Practitioner with the Irish Association of Social Workers and with Nagalro – the professional association for Guardians ad Litem.
In 2012, in collaboration with Dublin City University and the University of Toronto, I completed post graduate training as a PISA (Psychosocial and Psychoeducational Intervention) Facilitator for people experiencing acute trauma and suicidal ideation.
In 2019, I graduated with distinction as a Therapeutic Riding Coach from Festina Lente, which is accredited by the Institute for Therapeutic Animal Care Education.
I am a big advocate of continuing education and have undertaken further training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Creative Writing, Drama Therapy, Social Farming and Theraplay.
WORK EXPERIENCE
I have worked in both Ireland and North America and have gained much experience in child and adult mental health services, disability support, family and community support and as a Guardian ad Litem in family law proceedings.
I am a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) facilitator for people in recovery and a PISA facilitator for people with recurring experiences of acute trauma. I have delivered recovery and intervention programmes within hospital settings as well as within the wider community.
A strong advocate of arts-based and equine therapy interventions for individuals and groups, I have collaborated with Waterford Healing Arts Trust to develop integrative healing arts projects with colleagues at University Hospital Waterford.
